Dr. Asim Cheema graduated from Nishtar Medical College in Pakistan, received a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Toronto and an MSc in Health Care Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds specialty certification in Medicine and Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He teaches and provides supervision to graduate students at the Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Toronto and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Ryerson University. His main focus of research is adjunctive pharmacology for coronary interventions, transradial percutaneous coronary intervention and transcatheter aortic valve replacement. He has written several articles in major cardiovascular journals, received national awards and lectured at national and international cardiology conferences.
